Having obtained my Law Degree, I began work at a local firm in 1975, qualifying in 1979. I became partner and remained there until 1993.

Subsequently I became a partner of Grice and Ireland Solicitors. In 2000 we merged with Nolan, Pickles and Smith, which after restructuring became nga.

I am now one of the partners at nga dealing primarily with criminal law. I am an Accredited Police Station Representative and Duty Solicitor. I am also a member of the Criminal Law Solicitors Association.


Anthony J Allen (partner)

I began working in the legal profession in 1982, initially training to be a Legal Executive.

I qualified as a Solicitor in 1998, becoming a partner at Grice and Ireland in 1999.

I am now a partner at nga and lead the Personal Injury and Civil Litigation Departments.

I am based at our new offices on Hammerton Street, Burnley.

I am a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).


Neil J Campbell  (partner)
LLB (Hons)

I graduated from Sheffield University in 1980 where I obtained my Law Degree. I then attended the Chester College of Law.

In 1981 I began work as an Articles Clerk for Nolan, Pickles and Smith. I qualified in 1984 and became partner in 1986.

I have remained partner throughout the mergers and now head the Family Department.

I am an Advanced Member of the Family Law Panel, being one of the first to do so in this area.


Stephen Brown  (partner)

I qualified in 1977 after completing my studies at Liverpool and Chester Law School.

I was an Assistant Solicitor at Nolan, Pickles and Smith before becoming partner in 1980.

I am now based at our Colne office and I am the partner in charge of our Conveyancing Department.

I also deal in Wills and Probate and Estate Planning, including Inheritance Tax.


John P Nuttall  (partner)
BA(Hons)

I attended Swansea University where I studied for my degree.

I then went to the College of Law in York.

I completed my training contract with nga and became partner in 2004.

I work in our criminal department based at Parker Lane, Burnley.

I am an Accredited Police Station Representative and Duty Solicitor.

I have also obtained a diploma in Prison Law and specialise in this area.


Jane Waller
LLB(Hons)

I obtained my Law Degree at Bournemouth University. I then attended the Chester School of Law to do the Legal Practice Course.

I began my training contract in 1995 and qualified in June 1997.

I started work at nga in 2004 after spending the previous years working for a local firm.

I have 10 years experience in Family Law and practice in the Family Department.

I have obtained membership of the Family Law Panel.


Nicola Barrow
LLB(Hons)

I attended Townley High School. After leaving school I studied for my A’Levels at Burnley College before going to the University of Central Lancashire to do my Law Degree.

I took a break from my studies to start a family and returned to the University of Central Lancashire in 1995 to do the Legal Practice Course on a part-time basis.

I began work at a local firm of solicitors as a court clerk. I then completed my training contract with them and qualified in 2001.

I then decided to do my Post Graduate Certificate in Education. I went on to teach A’Level Law and Business at Burnley College.

I returned to the legal profession in 2003 when I began work at nga.

I am based at our Colne office and specialise in Family Law.

I am on the committee and liase closely with local Domestic Violence Agencies.


James Young
LLB(Hons)

I left Colne Primet High School in 1994. I then went on to Nelson and Colne College for my A’Levels. I obtained my Law Degree at Leeds Metropolitan University.

Following university I spent a number of months in employment and 6 months in Australia.

I joined nga in 2001 as a Crown Court Clerk. In 2002 I attended the University of Central Lancashire to do the Legal Practice Course. Whilst studying I remained at nga and continued as a Police Station Representative.

I qualified in December 2004 and I am currently based at our Colne office.

I work predominately in the Conveyancing Department. Although I also do some work in our Criminal Department.

I am an Accredited Police Station Representative and Duty Solicitor.


David J Poole
BA(Hons)

I graduated from the University of Manchester with a Degree in Economics in 1995. I then spent 8 years working in Sales and Marketing.

Whilst in employment I did the Common Professional Examination and the Legal Practice Course at the University of Central Lancashire.

I began my training contract with nga in 2003 and qualified in November 2005.

I work in the Personal Injury and Civil Litigation. I specialise in defending possession proceedings.

I am also an Accredited Police Station Representative and Duty Solicitor.


Gillian Taylor
BA(Hons)

I attended York University where I obtained a degree in History.

Following university I spent 8 years in employment before returning to my studies.

In 2000 I attended Manchester Metropolitan University to do my Common Professional Examination. I then went on to do the Legal Practice Course at the University of Central Lancashire.

In 2003 I started work as a paralegal at nga. In the same year I was offered a training contract.

I qualified in November 2005 and now work in Family, Personal Injury and Civil Litigation.


Gillian Sharpe

I studied for my A’Levels at Burnley College before going on to Blackburn College to do the Legal Executive Course. I completed the first 2 years on a day release basis whilst working for a local firm. I then completed the next 2 years on a distance learning basis.

I was admitted as a Fellow of the Institute for Legal Executives in 1993.

I began work for nga (Nolan Grice) in 2002.

I am based at our Colne office and work solely in Conveyancing.


Rebecca Stanton
LLB(Hons)

I attended Skipton Girls High School until 1996. I then went to Craven College to do my A’Levels.

I studied for my Law Degree at the Bradford School of Law and Business, graduating from there is 2005.

I then completed the Legal Practice Course at Leeds BPP.

In the summer of 2006 I joined nga as a Trainee Solicitor. I am due to qualify in August 2008.

I am currently based at our Burnley office in the Criminal Department and have also worked in our Family Department.

During my break from education I spent a year working at a HIV Charity Project in New York.
